Challenge

A homeowner in Cardinal, Ontario was concerned about high levels of radon gas detected in her home. Radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas, poses significant health risks when trapped indoors at elevated levels.

Solution

Our goals for this project:

• Reduce radon levels to meet safe indoor air quality standards.

  We proposed a comprehensive radon mitigation strategy:

  • Install a radon mitigation system to safely vent radon gas outdoors.
  • Seal visible cracks in the foundation to minimize radon entry points.

• 3. System Installation

  The radon mitigation system was designed to create negative pressure beneath the foundation, effectively capturing and redirecting radon gas:

  • Installed a venting pipe system connected to a fan to expel radon gas above the roofline.
  • Ensured the system was quiet and energy-efficient to minimize disruption for the client.

• 4. Foundation Crack Sealing

  We inspected the entire foundation and sealed all visible cracks using high-quality sealant. This step reduced potential entry points for radon gas, enhancing the effectiveness of the mitigation system.
