Crawlspace Encapsulation in Lyn, Ontario

Challenge

We had a customer in Lyn, Ontario who had an unfinished crawlspace causing persistent moisture issues. This excessive moisture created an uncomfortable indoor environment and raised concerns about potential structural damage due to mold growth. The customer wanted a long lasting solution to encapsulate the space and eliminate the moisture problem.

Solution

Upon inspection, the crawlspace was found to have high humidity levels, uneven flooring and poor insulation. These conditions were contributing to a damp and inefficient home environment. The goal was to create a clean, dry and energy efficient space.

To encapsulate and address the moisture problems in the crawlspace, we implemented the following:

- Cleanspace Vapor Barrier: installed a durable Cleanspace liner across the crawlspace floor and walls. This thick reinforced plastic liner prevents moisture from entering the space and created a clean bright environment.

- SilverGlo Insulation Panels: Installed SilverGlo insulation on the crawlspace walls. these panels not only insulate the space but also reflect heat back into the area, enhancing energy efficiency.

- SmartDrain System: We installed a SmartDrain to manage any unexpected plumbing leak or groundwater seepage. This system ensures the crawlspace remains dry by providing an efficient drainage pathway.

- Drainage Matting: Laid drainage matting beneath the CleanSpace liner to allow water to flow freely to the SmartDrain system. This ensures any trapped water is directed away without pooling beneath the liner.

The encapsulation transformed the crawlspace into a dry, clean, and well insulated area. the CleanSpace liner and SilverGlo panels significantly reduced moisture and improved energy efficiency. With the SmartDrain and drainage matting in place, the homeowner now has the peace of mind knowing the area is protected from future water issues. We feel that our solution not only resolved the moisture problem but also added value to the home by creating a healthier and more sustainable area.
